Places to visit among the Eight Temples

  • Myotsu-ji Temple

The two flanking priests guarding the main deity, Yakushi, are Kakusansei Myoo and Fukasha Taisho, a very rare statue in Japan.
  • Mantoku-ji Temple

The temple is famous for its garden, but it was also a temple of the Sakai family, the feudal lord of the Obama domain, and its connection to the domain can be felt through the ink paintings on the transoms, which are said to have been painted by the feudal lord.
  • Myoraku-ji Temple

The vividly colored statues of the Four Heavenly Kings are also impressive. The statue of Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) on the right side of the main image is a beautiful image said to have been created in the Heian period (794-1185), and is also known as the Goddess of Mercy for marriage.
  • Jingu-ji Temple

Since the temple is a combined Shinto shrine and Buddhist temple, people clap their hands in prayer. On the left side of the main hall, there is a well where water is drawn for the famous "omizuokuri," festival.
